March has been a difficult month for our pack.
Perhaps the seemingly never ending dreariness has been Mother Nature's way of grieving along side us.
At the beginning of the month, we lost our good pal Verney, pictured center with his brothers Vanguard and Brinkley. Verney was a service dog who retired a few years back when his person went into full time care. For the first year or two he was happy to join the pack at the park. Ambling along, he would refuse to follow off trail to let others pass. Almost as if to say, "I've worked my whole life. This is my retirement. I will do what I please!"
A little over a year ago Verney put his foot down on coming to the park. He simply refused to do it anymore. We still saw him regularly when picking up his brothers and for overnights. We knew he was slowing down and that his time with us was coming to an end. I was able to visit with him on his final day - something I am hugely grateful for. We are so saddened by his loss but know that it was his time and now he's watching over all of us from across the rainbow.
You've done good Vern. Be at rest. ️
