Welcome Brie!
After a lengthy and thorough vetting process which included multiple rounds of interviews as well as an "on the job" visit to the park so we could observe everyone in action, we are very happy to announce that we have hired our third team member! I am at times in a state of amazement at this thing I've built. I'm sure there are plenty of people who set out to be small business owners. That wasn't me. Unhappy in my chosen career path and with the level of care my dog was receiving while I was at work, I took a chance and decided I could do better. From the beginning, my goal has been to provide outstanding and personal care to the dogs I have been entrusted with - the level of care that I would expect if I hired someone to care for my dogs. It's a cliche in this business but we treat the dogs in our care as our own.
Somewhere along the way, Beantown Hounds outgrew the ability to be a one woman show. Sure, I could probably have kept at it solo, but the dogs would have suffered. And to be perfectly frank, I was suffering. I firmly believe that a work/life balance is important and as a one woman show, that was out of balance in my life.
Once again this summer, I found that we were in a spot that did not allow for balance. And while I can push myself to the limits of what is acceptable, I'm not willing to do that to the people who work for me. With the addition of Marjie's home for boarding, that aspect of the business really picked up. Adding boarding dogs to the already packed park schedule made it clear that another set of hands would be necessary - without even taking on new clients!
My goal has never been to be the biggest or most prominent dog care business. Will we continue to grow? Possibly. If it's necessary for the happiness of the dogs and people in our pack, then absolutely. The level of care and the dogs will always be our first priority and I'll always be on the look out for the right people for our team.
So without further ado, please welcome Brie to our team!
Brie Crowley grew up in Wellesley, graduating from Wellesley High in 2008 (I'm trying not to feel soooooo old about this fact). She went to Mass College of Art for metal work and jewelry design. She has been working with special education students at Wellesley High School for the last two years. She currently lives in West Newton with her fiance Andrew and dog Haley, an 80 lb goldendoodle.
We are very excited to have Brie join us!
