We had our first snow! Nothing major . . . not like what’s coming. But the dogs were happy with it.
Note that even snow doesn’t keep some dogs out of the water!
Katie is such a happy girl! She loves the snow!
Here’s my buddy Aslan enjoying the snow. Supposedly he’s almost 10 years old, but I don’t buy it. Most of the time he acts like a 3 or 4 year old. The other day someone asked me if he was puppy!
Over the weekend, the park drained. Here’s what it usually looks like:
Here’s Maggie and Lucy running up the hill with Trixie running towards us:
We often spend time with other dog walkers and their dogs. Mike and his dogs are surveying the stream and chatting about the flood with another gentleman.
It rained all day Wednesday and all day Thursday. Coupled with the freezing weather from earlier in the week, this caused Callahan State Park (a favorite of ours) to flood! Good thing I always keep my extra tall rain boots in the van.
What you can’t tell in this picture is that the lake these pups are overlooking is actually a large field that they usually frolick in. I’ll have to get more pictures of the field once everything drains.

Eventually we bypassed the flooded fields to hike the trails in the woods. Most of the inner trails were actually fine for walking on, but a couple of instences made for some tricky going:
It made for an interesting afternoon to say the least. And I know Lola and Gus were exhausted when we got home. Hopefully the other pups were too! I think they enjoyed the adventure!
Last Monday (Dec 8th) was super cold. But does that keep Labs from swimming? I think not. By the end of the day, Maggie (right) and Lucy (left) were covered in icicles! Making them . . . pupsicles!
Lucy was having trouble holding still for the photo shoot, but you can clearly see the icicles on her front! Maggie is fantastic at having her picture taken! A natural! And note how the ice clings to her neck.
Trixie (≈1.5 year old Lab/hound’whippet? mix) is the newest member of our playgroup. Everyone thinks she’s pretty cute, but Fudge (1 year old German Shepard) is particularly taken with her. He spent all of playgroup on Friday and Monday following her around. And since Trixie is a little bit of a wanderer, he got kind of nervous about her absences. I’m hoping Fudge’s amazing recall will start to rub off on Trixie. That boy turns on a dime when I call him.
But don’t they make a cute couple?
